Among Us Jack-In-The-Box

IMG_2448.JPG

Welcome to my Instructable. Today I made a small paper jack in the box. I designed it with the Among Us vent theme. The box is very easy and simple to make. It utilizes a neat spring mechanic to open the box and pop the Among us figure out. You can change the theme to be whatever you want as well. There are also different prints for different size boxes. I hope you enjoy it.

Print and Cut Out the Box and Figure.

First I started by printing out the template. I was able to scale it to the size I wanted in the advanced print settings. Once it was printed, I cut along all the dark lines. I show an example of both sizes, big and small. I also had to cut two long strips of paper for the spring, and a among us figure. Once everything is cut and ready to go, we can continue.

Assembly of the Box

Once everything is cut out, the box must be assembled.

To assemble the box, I started by making folds across all the dotted lines. Once the folds are done, I started by folding the front, back, left, and right side pieces up using all the tabs. Then I used tape to secure it. This part was a little hard because I ended up having to cut a few extra lines to get it to fold properly. For the most part, the template is pretty straightforward. The piece with the small half circle cut out, which we don't need to do, is the bottom piece.

Assembly of the Spring

The spring is pretty easy. Start by getting the two long strips of paper and place one of the ends over the other as shown in the picture. Then fold the bottom paper over the top one. Repeat this over and over until one piece runs out. then cut the extra and use tape to secure to the very top layer. The among us figure is then taped to the top of the spring. To tape the figure to the spiring, and spring to the box, I folded a strip of tape over itself to create the double-sided tape. the assembly is not complete and it's time for final details.

Final Touches

To finish this off I cut the extra tabs off the top. Leaving the top small tabs that fold into the sides to close the box. I also drew a vent on the top and colored it in. Then we can close the box and it will spring open when you release the tabs. If the box was folded correctly, those should be two small slots for the tabs to fold into on each side. Thanks for stopping by and I hope you enjoyed and found this helpful.
