Amazing Hot Chocolate
In this instructable I will show you how to make hot chocolate. This homemade hot chocolate recipe is amazing and really easy to make. It is also very versatile, you can play around with the ratios of chocolate, milk, and cream, to fit your tastes. This recipe makes a thick and super duper chocolatey cup of hot chocolate and makes about 3 servings depending on much you serve. It is very rich, so you may fill each cup 2/3 of the way full and then top them off with extra milk. :) If I can make it you can make it, let's get started!

Ingredients/Tools
You may print this recipe here if you like.
Ingredients:
- 1 1/2 cups of whole milk (but you can use whatever milk you like) (375mL)
- 1/2 cup of whipping cream (125mL)
- 1 - 4 ounce bar of milk chocolate (120g)
- 2 ounces of dark chocolate bar (60g)
- 1 Tbsp. of white granulated sugar (optional) (15g)
Tools:
- pot
- spatula
- ladle
Milk, Cream, and Sugar
First let's add in our milk, cream, and sugar to a pot and place it on our burner. Turn the burn on to medium heat and stir occasionally. We want the mixture to get to right around 180 degrees F. You will see little bubbles on the top of the liquid, and on the sides, this is a good indication it is ready. Don't let it boil.
Chocolate and More Chocolate
Then we take the hot milk/cream from the stove and add both of our chocolates. I like to use part dark and part milk chocolate. But you can use a different ratio if you want, or all dark, or all milk chocolate, etc. Also you can do a different ratio of cream to whole milk. Once we add our chocolate, let the mixture sit for 3 minutes, then stir it all together. Some people prefer to melt their chocolate separately and then combine it with the hot liquid. You can do that too if you like. After stirring, the chocolate will most likely need to be reheated. Go ahead and reheat it until it is hot, on the stove.
Serve It Up!
Now just serve it up and top it off with whipped cream, marshmallows, or whatever else you like. Mmm this hot chocolate is super rich and thick! If you want it less rich, just fill up your cup 2/3rds full and then add more milk, which will cool it down a bit as well as thin it out. Enjoy! :)
