Amazing Grace With Sonic Pi

In this Instructable, I will show to how to make a beautiful, but simple, Amazing Grace track using Sonic Pi.

Sonic Pi is an easy to use Live Programming Synth. In only three days of studying the tutorials in the 'help' box, I had made an entire Amazing Grace track with soprano, alto, tenor, and bass parts.

Below I will include both the complete track (harmony) code and also the melody code, just in case you only want the simple music.

Open Sonic Pi

The first step is to open Sonic Pi. To open, go to the menu and hover over 'programming'. When a sub menu comes up, go ahead and click on Sonic Pi.

Copy and Paste

After you download my included code and open Sonic Pi, open the code in your choice of text editor. Highlight the ENTIRE script and copy it. Enter Sonic Pi and paste the script in an empty buffer.

Run!

Now all that's left to do is click 'run' at the top left corner of your screen and the music will play! There is also a volume slider to the right of your screen so you can find your preferred volume.

That's It!

And that's all there is to it! Sonic Pi is extremely easy to use and I would recommend reading the tutorials in the 'help' box. Less than an hour is all it takes to learn some basic things in Sonic Pi, and after each lesson you will be able to have endless fun making, editing, and modifying code to make your own montages.
