Supplies
Ingredients:
- 1 cup whole wheat flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
- 1/8 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 cup salted butter
- 2 tablespoons milk
- 2 tablespoons maple syrup
- 1 tablespoon molasses
Equipment:
- 2 large bowls
- 1 baking sheet
- parchment paper
- measuring spoons
- whisk
- plastic wrap
- rolling pin
- 1 1/2'' round cookie cutter
Set your oven on bake to 375°F and line your baking sheet with parchment paper.
Whisk together the dry ingredients (flour, baking powder, cinnamon, ginger, ground cloves, and salt) in a bowl and set aside.
Whisk together the wet ingredients (butter, milk, maple syrup, and molasses) in another bowl. The ingredients may look partially separated.
Then, whisk together the wet and dry ingredients.
Form the dough into a disc with your hands. Wrap it in plastic wrap. Then, put it in the fridge for 10 minutes.
After 10 minutes, pull out the dough from the fridge. Place the dough disc between two pieces of plastic wrap. Roll it out to about 1/4-inch thickness.
Cut out the dough with the cookie cutter and transfer the cutouts to the baking sheet. Once you are done, place your cookies in the preheated oven.
Bake at 375°F for 7-10 minutes. They should have a nice golden brown color on the top and bottom. Once cooled, they will last about one week in an airtight container.
