Wooden Block Measurement

I needed a pine block of 1.5" X 1.5" X 10" long. And another 1cm X 1.5" X 10" long. Measured and cut from a bigger block of wood I had in scrap.

Sanding

After cutting the blocks I sanded the blocks into perfection. I used my sander machine to make the work faster. This is a optional step.

Trail Marking

  • Take the bigger block and choose its front side.
  • Draw a trail on it. This trail is for the marble to roll. So make sure the trail's thickness is about 1-2mm larger than the marble's diameter. This will ensure the marble can roll freely.

Cutting the Trail

Using my angle grinder sliding compound saw stand and wooded saw I grooved the trail-marked area. Chiseled the residue and sanded the groove.

This trail cutting is the hardest part of this project. If someone doesn't have angle grinder, the curve can me done using a chisel.

The trail must have an arc on each side, the path for the marble should be curved and not straight. Or else the marble won't be able to produce the gripping function.

Assembling

  • With the help of super glue, fixed a small wooden bit of 1cm X 1.5" X 1.5" on top.
  • Inserted the marble in the trail
  • Super glued the 1cm X 1.5" X 10" block above the 1cm X 1.5" X 1.5" piece.
