Aluminum Can-dle Shade

Easy way to reuse used beverage cans and make something cool and useful at the same time.

Supplies

EmpBeverage can

Coarse sand paper

Sharp Screw

Small Candle

Poking Holes in Alumninum

Start the candle shade by using the screws to form holes in the used soda can about 1/8" diameter by poking the can and turning the screw until it pierces the aluminum. Cover the outside of the can in holes, about 1/4" - 1/2" apart, and be creative. You can put the holes in a pattern, or create designs that will shine on the wall.

Taking Sanding the Lid Off

Put the coarse sandpaper face up on a flat surface. Then, turn the empty can upside down and hold it near the bottom. Sand the edges of the lid in a circular motion until it is worn down.

Pop Off the Top

Can Pop

Take the metal tab of and then grab the top from inside of the aluminum can. Using a moderate amount of force, pull off the top, opening it up. Then, clean the inside of the can to remove any liquid remaining.

Coke Can Lamp Shade

Finally, place the candle inside the Aluminum can and place it in a dark room. Light the candle and admire the light. It can be used as a night light, or to create a peaceful atmosphere.
