Aluminium Tape Art Wall Clock

We do a lot of aluminium tape art work and we wanted to do a protection Galdr, (Galdr (plural galdrar) is one Old Norse word for "spell, incantation"). We decided to make a wall clock and here is how we did it.

We used a circular cardboard blank (this is probably made to use in pizza boxes or cake boxes) and a piece of wallpaper as the base of the wall clock.

We cut and glued the wallpaper to the cardboard blank and punched a hole in the centre.

Get a design you want, we chose Vegvisir Galdr (A Vegvísir Galdr is an Icelandic magical stave intended to help the bearer find his/her way through rough weather.) since we like the design.

Since it's hard to trace the design on structured wall paper we use baking parchment, put the design under the baking parchment and start tracing it with the hot glue gun.

When the hot glue is cold you can detach it from the parchment, glue it to the cardboard.

In this step you'll need aluminium tape and a drawing stump, it is a very good tool to flatten the aluminium tape with.

Wrinkle the tape to get some structure and cover both sides of your design.

Add a layer of black paint to both sides with a sponge.

Decorate your artwork with what ever colour you like, we use acrylic craftsman paint.

Well any clock do need a clockwork :)

Since we chose dark colours, we decided to paint the clock hands in a metallic purple.
