Aloha Make-up Bag

Here's a clever idea for a roomy make-up bag made out of an old Hawaiian shirt. You can find colorful Hawaiian shirts at your local thrift shop that are perfect for small projects like this.
The Wonder-under fusible webbing makes the fabric heavier and helps hold it's shape better.

Cut Fabric

Cut these pieces:
Loop- 7" x 4" (No fusible webbing needed for the loop)
sides of bag- 10-1/4" x 5-1/2" -(cut 2) round corners.
Bottom of bag- 4-3/4" x 15-1/2"
Sides of zipper- 12-1/2" x 4"- (cut 2) Fold each one of these in half lengthwise, press. Iron a piece of fusible webbing on 1/2 only. Peel off the paper and fold over. Press.

Zipper

Pin the folded edges beside both sides of the zipper. Using a zipper foot, sew these to the zipper.
Now trim the sides of this section so it is the same width as the bottom section, 4-3/4".

Loop

Fold the piece of fabric for the loop (7" x 4") in half lengthwise, press. Open and fold the outside edges to the center. Bring the folded edges together and pin. Stitch 1/4" from the edges, down the center and again between the center and outside edges for a total of 5 times.
Top and Bottom

Sew the top and bottom sections together with 1/2" seam allowance. Top stitch. Fold the loop in half and place in the seam near the zipper pull.
Pin Sides

Place pins at the center (on both sides) of the middle band. Clip the band section were they meet the corners of the side sections. Matching up centers, pin sides to middle band. Make sure and leave the zipper open, otherwise you won't be able to turn it right side out.
Sew Sides of Bag

Stitch around one side and then the other with 1/4" seam allowance.
Turn right side out.
I bet you have a friend or 2 who could use one of these neat bags!
