I made a alligator lamp with Arduino. We always have a issue in dorm, since the light switch is so far from our bed, we always argue about who should close the light (It’s dark after turning off the lights, and it’s will be dangerous for people who is climbing stairs to go to bed.) So this cute little lamp can help us, we can place it near by our bed, so when we closed the light, we can still have some light to keep us safe.

Materials

1. Card boards

2. 3 yellow LED (You can change it into any color you like.)

3. Arduino Leonardo

4. Breadboard

5. Wires

6. 3 220 ohm resistors

7. Hot glue gun

8. Clay!

PICTURE 1; Head of alligator

You will need to cut the cardboard into the shape that shows in Picture 1, then glue it into a box.

PICTURE 2; Body of alligator

You will need to have a 28x10 cardboard, than divide it into 4 part. Fold it then glue it to make another box.

*If your cardboard is too thick to fold, you can cut the dotted line with a utility knife then fold it.

Be careful not to cut your hands

ALMOST DONE!

Use cardboard to cut some triangles for the back of the alligator, use clay to make eyes and body

(shown in picture 3) You can color the eye ball with color pencil when the clay is 100% dry.

"You will need a box for putting your Arduino Leonardo too, the size of Arduino Leonardo is 18cm x12cm."

Connect the Circuit

Connect the circuit like the picture above!

*The reason I am using 3 same color LED light is because we only need one color for night lamp, but if you want to use this in other places, such as dancing in your home, you can change the LED color and it will be colorful.

Final Product!

Improvement

I think I could make a button for switch on/off to make it more convenience, or add more light bulb to let it lighter.
