Aliter Duicia: an Ancient Roman Dessert

This is a dessert from Ancient Rome. All the ingredients are from the original Roman recipe except the baking powder.

Supplies

  • 4.5 cups Flour (not pictured)
  • Olive oil
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 tbsp baking powder (optional) (not pictured)
  • honey (optional)
  • ground pepper (optional)

Mix

Mix the flour, milk, salt, eggs, and baking powder(if you included it) together. Stir until even (may take a bit of effort).

Shape

Shape the dough into flat circles.

Fry

Pour oil to cover the pan completely and put the dough in. Fry until golden brown and crispy on each side.

Serve

Drizzle with honey and sprinkle with a pinch of pepper to taste. Enjoy!
