Here are the materials you will need to make them:

  • square glass tiles
  • images of album covers
  • Mod Podge
  • sponge brush
  • scissors or X-acto knife
  • magnets
  • E6000 or glue gun

Prep Work

To start, research your favorite album covers, and size them on your computer so that they're almost the same size as your glass tiles. Then, print them out. I find it best to use a laser printer. However, for those with an inkjet printer, make an extra copy to prevent the ink from smearing. For this project, you will need to make your images slightly bigger than your glass tiles. My tiles measure .98 x .98 inches, so you will need to make them at least 1 inch big.

Cut

For the next step, carefully cut out your album cover images with scissors or X-acto knife.

Add Mod Podge

Use a layer of Mod Podge to brush on the back of the glass tile, place the image on top, and add about 1 or 2 more layers on top to seal. Let dry.

Add a Magnet

Finally, use a dot of glue attach a magnet to the back and let dry.

Done!

Now, they're ready to put on your fridge and enjoy!

Here are some of the album covers I've used for my take on the project:

  • Carly Simon: Anticipation
  • Men At Work: Business As Usual
  • Duran Duran: Rio
  • Taylor Dayne: Can't Fight Fate
  • Madonna: True Blue
  • Taylor Swift: Fearless

Note: The last two images are just examples of how to take an album or CD and make it more miniature sized!
