Airtech 2000 Nerf Gun Modification
This is an instructable about modding the Nerf Airtech 2000 pump gun. It is my first instructable, so if I mess up a lot, don't leave mean comments please. I made it up as I went, and turned out about doubling the power! I also did the same thing to another gun of the same type that was broken, fixed the problem (hole in pressure indicator- messy orange stuff all over the inside!) and it worked again as well as was more powerful than the original before it broke.
Stuff You Need
You'll need the following:
-Flathead screwdriver
-Small philips head screwdriver
-The ability to take stuff apart
-Something you can cut plastic with (I used giant scissor shear things that I'll refer to as 'big scissors')
- A vise is very helpful and if you have one you've got an advantage

Take It Apart, But Read Below First
You need to remove the screws. The small Phillips head screwdriver is used here. After you remove them, there will be a piece of plastic locking the bodies together near the pump. I pried it open with the flat head screwdriver and my hands.
Inside
The inside should look like this. Sorry about bad image quality.
Barrel Mod Part One
You need to take the barrel out. If you have a vice, put it in there with the shooting end up. Then pry off one of the barrels with the flat head screw driver.
Barrel Mod Part 2
Take out the air restrictor and spring. It should look like a two pronged piece and a spring, as in the photos. You an do whatever you want with it. I killed it with a razor blade since it was making my gun shoot less far. After the barrel mod, you should have something that looks like the picture I've got of the finished barrel.
Finishing Barrel Mod
Finally, attach the barrel that you took off. I duct taped it to the white thing that the air comes out of. You could use hot glue and it probably would work better, but I decided to use duct tape since it was faster. You don't have to rotate a barrel anymore, since it now is a single shot kind of like the nite finder. Sorry that I don't have a picture for this.
Restore the Pump
The pumps on my guns were filthy, so I cleaned them off with some water for a better seal, and they worked much better. It takes a little work to get it out of the piece of plastic in the front, so I removed the handle (2 screws) and took off the halves and worked at for a while so I could wash it off in the sink. Make sure to dry it well or you might end up with a mist gun!
Put It Back Together
Before putting it back together, you need to remove a large piece of plastic near the pump that made it difficult to open the gun. I used my big scissors to cut it off and filed it down a little bit to make it look better. Keep cutting off small pieces until the halves fit together. Then just screw it back together.
Test It!
Modifying it is the boring part. Now comes the fun. Shoot your gun to see how much better it is. If you want to, you can cover the opening in the front with something to make it look better. You can even paint it a new color. If you did something wrong or somehow broke your gun, I am not responsible for it. I hope that this was helpful to everybody with one of these.
