Airplane Taking Off CodeBlocks
This is an animated Gif of a plane taking off using Codeblocks. It takes a lot of time and patience. If you want to build this yourself make sure to follow the steps below.
On the right of your screen will be your workplane/project while on the left will be all of your shapes and tools. There is a trash on the bottom right of your tools side in case you have to delete anything. The rest should be pretty simple if you follow along with the images I provide.
Supplies
For supplies you are going to need a Tinkercad account and access to Codeblocks. You will need to use most of the shapes and controls in Codeblocks. Make sure to use a good computer because lots of codes can cause lag.
Making the Runway
To make the runway you can follow the codes in the images. We use one black block and scale it to the main part of our runway. Then we use multiple white blocks and scale them to add effect and make it look more like a runway. Use as many as it takes to create a dotted line down the center of the Runway. Don't forget to create a group when done. Also remember to create a new object and attach it to the top of runway. You can name this whatever you want, I just named mine "Runway."
Making the Wheels
In the images above you will see the codes to make wheel 1, 2, and 3. You will also see codes for cylinders. These are used to make it look like the plane is attached to the wheels. If these weren't there then it would look less realistic with the plane either floating above the wheels or the plane attached to the wheels themselves. You will also see an image that shows the final product of what this should look like when you're done. Remember to create an object at the top of this too. When you've created this object you should have a space between this and the runway as shown in the picture. This is the last "create an object" that you will have to make and name as everything else will attach to the bottom of this.
The Body of the Plane
Above you will see the codes for the body of the plane. This consists of the main body of the plane, as well as the nose of the plane. you might notice that the body of the plane is a different diameter than the nose. This is because of how the wings are made. After the wings are made in the next step, we will add to the body to make it the same diameter as the nose. You will see this happen in the tail too.
Making the Wings
Making the wings is a little more complicated than what we've done so far. We will start out with a wedge and scale it down to the right size for a wing. Then we'll move it to the correct place on the body. You will notice that the rest of the blocks are transparent. These are used for making any shape look like whatever you want. They start out barely visible, but when you create a group, they will disappear along with any part of another shape that they were touching. Create as many of these as you need to make your wings look like the ones in the picture. Remember to create a group when done. Once finished, you will notice that there are holes in the body. This is where the next step comes into play. You will add to the body to hide these holes.
Touching Up the Body
This is just a quick touch up to make the body of the plane the same diameter as the nose. This will also get rid of the holes in the body of the plane from making the wings. As I stated before, you will see this happen again in the tail when you use transparent blocks again.
Making the Tail
Making the tail consists of 4 parts, the main part of the tail, as well as the top, left, and right tail fin. You will once again notice that the tail is a different diameter than the body. This is because we will be using transparent blocks again which will create holes in the tail. In the next step we will cover up the holes and make the tail the same diameter as the body. Be sure to create a group when done.
Touching Up the Tail
This is just another quick touch up like we did to the body. It will get rid of the holes and make the tail the same diameter as the body.
Making the Stripe
Making the stripe is fairly simple. It consists of one shape colored dark blue. This is one of the very few colored shapes in this project. If you follow the scaling and moving steps in the image, you should be done within seconds.
Making the Windows
The windows may seem complicated because they take a lot of code, but they are really simple and each window just moves back and forth on the Y axis. To do the second side of the plane, we just move the windows the other direction on the X axis and rotate them -90 degrees on the Y axis instead of 90 degrees. Make sure to make your windows gray and you should be all set.
Touching Up the Wings
This is just a quick add to the wings to make it look more realistic. This is completely optional but I think it makes it look cooler. The codes are simple and only make a small change as seen in the pictures. Once done with this, be sure to create a group. This is the last part of the plane so creating a group will allow us to move the whole plane together in one piece.
Making the Plane Fly
Moving the plane doesn't take too many codes. But make sure to create repeats around every movement as shown in the image. This will allow us to repeat small movements many times so that our plane will move nice and smoothly. If you were to move the whole plane at once, it would look almost like the plane was teleporting across the workplane instead of flying. Once you've finished this, you do not need to create a group as there are no shapes required in this step. If you've followed the steps correctly, you should have a working animated gif of a plane taking off and flying away.
The Videos
These are the videos of the final product. It shows a fast and slow version of the entire project. The entire project consists of the building of the plane, and the taking off of the plane. I hope you enjoy.
