Airplane Radar Dartboard
I created this game to be a fun different way of playing darts. It can be played in the dark, due to its glowing features.
The objective of this updated dart game is to win the game like how you would a normal dart game. However, if you hit the enemy airplanes, you get and extra turn per dart that hits the planes. Shown here is the final product of the airplane radar dart board.
Supplies
The materials needed for this project are:
- wood,
- corkboard
- darts
- paint
- paintbrushes
- glow in the dark paint
- glue
- computer to 3D model the parts for the dart.
Cork Assembly
To assemble the cork board:
- Cut the cork in a circle with a diameter of approximately 14in. You could also lay the cork over and trace the inner circle to get precise measurements.
- Remove the film to reveal the adhesive side
- Apply a glue of your choice
- Place the cork, adhesive side down, on the glue
- Press firmly on the cork
Paint
Paint the outer rim black and the inside a neon green, once dried, the paint will be darker. Add glow paint to inner sections as shown.
Attach Wires
Attach the wires to create the dart board portion. Cut out a thin section to allow the wires to fit in snuggly, and apply glue to the top to secure wires in place.
Then, paint the inner ings with glow paint.
3D Model
3D model the wings and tails to fit the darts.
Attached are the stl files for printing the wing and tail parts for the plane darts according to the size of MAXMAU steel tip darts.
Draw/paint Pt.2
Draw a map and airplanes to add to the radar theme of the board. Feel free to get creative and do it differently than mine.
Attach Wires Pt.2
Hot glue the ends of the wires to the board to create the sections. Attach the inner parts of the wire with super glue to prevent a mess of hot glue.
Numbers and Glowing Radar
Add numbers with a white colored pencil, and "spinning" radar part with glow paint.
Paint Pt.3
Paint the inner sections black for the alternating colors aspect of a normal dart board.
Assemble Darts
Assemble the wings and tails to the darts with glue of your choice.
Enjoy!
