Air Plant Wood Stand

Air plants have really changed the way we think about plants in home decor. Their no need for soil presents countless placement possibilities and it's no wonder that they have become so trendy these last few years. So if you are into air plants and some -super easy- modern & minimal decor, then this instructable is for you.

There are many options of air plants out there but Tillandsias seem to a good place to start. So, let's see how easy it is to create a wooden stand that will showcase these beautiful and interesting plants!

• A piece of wood 4*4*6 inches
• Fine grit sandpaper
• Painters tape
• Wood stain varnish
• Brush
• Wire (appr. 7-8 inches long)
• Wire cutters
• Nail
• Montage kit or any other strong adhesive

Sand your wood to a smooth finish. In my case, a 180 grit sand paper did the job just fine.

Using the painter's tape create an irregular triangle in two adjoining side of the wood block and apply the varnish in at least two coats, allowing for drying time in between.

Tip: No staining varnish at hand? No worries, you can use acrylic paint, chalk paint, even black board paint!

Find the center of the top of the block -just between us, I eyeballed it- and push the nail a couple of inches in to it so as to create the hole where the wire will sit.

-Again just between us, I used the flat side of the wire cutters to "hammer" the nail (life's too short to make things more complicated!)-

Bend the wire on one end creating a loop, making sure your air plant will fit nicely. You don't want it too tight but not too loose that the plant will fall. Apply montage kit to the other end and stick it into the hole previously created. Let it completely harden and you are all done! I did say this was going to be a super easy diy, didn't I?

Place your air plant and enjoy!
