Air Fryer Potato Chips

In this Instructable, learn how to make crispy crunchy potato chips in the air fryer, which just happens to be one of my favorite kitchen gadgets. If you are a potato chip lover and you like using your air fryer this recipe is for you. I did another Instructable a few weeks ago for potato chips in the microwave, this takes a little longer in the air fryer but they do turn out better in my opinion.

Slice Those Potatoes

Rinse and dry the outside of the potatoes. Slice the potatoes either with a mandoline or with a knife. Slice them as uniformly as possible at around 1/8th to 1/16th of an inch thick.
Place the potato slices in cold water. Allow them to soak for 30 minutes. Remove and replace the water after 15. minutes. This process helps remove excess starch in the potato slices.
Dry and Season

Drain the potato slices and then place them on a paper towel or clean kitchen towel and dry them well. Then spray them with a bit of olive oil and sprinkle them with salt. You can also place them in a bowl and then drizzle a bit of olive oil on and then coat them evenly with clean hands or wear some kitchen gloves.
Arrange them in the air fryer basket in one layer. The amount you can put in will depend on the size of your air fryer.
Air Fry Those Potato Slices

Put the basket in the air fryer and set the air temperature to 325F/162C. It will take 10 to 14 minutes to get them nice and crispy. At the 5 to 7 minute mark remove the basket and flip the chips over to encourage even cooking. The edges that are thinner will brown a bit more. Just don't let them get too dark/burnt because they will start to taste bitter at that point. The more even you slice the potatoes the better the chips will turn out.
Once done place them on a paper towel or wire rack to cool. You can sprinkle on more seasonings if you like. Enjoy!
