Affordable Modular Stadium From Shipping Containers

I will be a Junior at Moe and Gene Johnson High School in the fall. I live in Texas, where everything is bigger - especially the football stadiums. One stadium just down the road from me can seat almost 10,000 people. Needless to say, these stadium installations are not cheap (look at this proposed 20 million dollar stadium). Naturally, a more affordable solution to create stadiums would be welcome.

The primary structure of the stadium is built out of shipping containers, with wooden or aluminum bleachers placed on top of the containers. The containers and bleachers are fastened together with twistlocks, which are more than capable of handling any structual loads.

1. All load-bearing is done at the corners and edges of a shipping container. This means that a traditional concrete foundation only needs to support these places, which vastly reduces the amount of cement needed. This helps to reduce the cost of the structure, as well as reducing the carbon footprint.
2. Shipping containers are widely available for reasonable prices, especially when compared to a traditional stadium structure.
3. No modifications to the shipping containers is necessary - this means that the stadium can be easily expanded or taken down - in which case the shipping containers can be repurposed elsewhere.
