Advent Calendar Upcycling

Advent calendar upcycling

While shredding the trash after the holiday season, I came across the interesting interior of a chocolate advents calendar. When taking it apart a nice mold sheet appears. I assume that melded chocolate is poured directly into the mold sheet during production. When removing from the cardboard, the mold sheet can däbe used to cast plaster into it. The resulting figures and shapes are excellent to decorate your next Christmas (see picture in step 5).

Supplies

For this upcycling project you need the following:

  • Salvaged mold sheet from a chocolate advents calendar
  • Plaster
  • Oil
  • Paintbrush
  • Nail varnish

Coat the Mold With Oil

Open the advent calendar on the side. Remove the plastic mold sheet carefully. Coat the molds with oil. This makes it easier to remove the figures from the mold sheet later.

Cast Plaster

Mix the plaster with water. Carefully pour the plaster into the molds. Remove the air bubbles with a toothpick. Wait until the plaster has hardened.

Pop the Figures Out

Once dry, pop the figures out of the mold sheet. If you handle the mold sheet carefully, it can be used various times.

Paint the Figures

Paint the figures with nail varnish if you want.

How to Decorate Your Next Christmas

In the picture above you see an example how to use the figures to decorate your next Christmas. I hope that this instructable inspired you to upcycle the used advent calendar yourself.
