Advanced Controller Station / Puesto De Control Avanzado

Hello everyone, today I bring you a new project to adapt the work table to our needs. Although it is true that this project is adapted to mine, I hope that with this instructable it will be easy for you or that it will serve as inspiration for you to make your adaptation. I started by making the checkpoint itself and then it occurred to me to make a piece of furniture to cover the cables and gain storage space. So this project is actually made up of two projects, I hope both of them are to your liking and inspire you!

Muy buenas a todos hoy os traigo un nuevo proyecto para adecuar la mesa de trabajo a nuestras necesidades, si bien es verdad que este proyecto esta adaptado a las mías, espero que con este instructable os resulte sencillo o os sirva de inspiración para realizar vuestra adaptación. Empecé realizando el puesto de control propiamente dicho y después se me ocurrió hacer un mueble para tapar los cables y ganar en espacio de almacenamiento. Así que este proyecto se compone de dos proyectos realmente, espero que ambos sean de su gusto y le inspiren!

Since this project is so variable, depending on what you want to do. I will explain what is most necessary although at the same time it is obvious....

To do this we will need:

1. A jigsaw
2. A filament 3D printer
3. small hand tools
4. Switches, pressure gauges, plugs, cables, USB ports,...
5. A 1.5mx1.6m board of 1cm thick balsa wood. (I had that board with those measurements and it was actually used in its entirety, just a few centimeters extra) :o
6. Paint and primer for wood.

Como este proyecto es tan variable, en función de lo que se quiera hacer. Expondré lo mas necesario aunque a su vez resulte evidente....

Para realizarlo necesitaremos:

1. Una sierra de calar
2. Una impresora 3d de filamento
3. Pequeñas herramientas de mano
4. Interruptores, manómetros, enchufes, cables, puertos usbs,...
5. Un tablero de 1,5mx1,6m de 1cm de grosor de madera de balsa. (Disponía de ese tablero con esas medidas y justamente se aprovecho entero, apenas sobro unos centímetros) :o
6. Pintura e imprimación para madera.

The first thing I did was check the maximum measurements available on the table, taking into account the central support it has and the width it could use without losing comfort or spaciousness. Secondly, I ordered all the components as I wanted them to be and proceeded to make the fusion box design.

The design of the control panel is quite simple, perhaps the most complex part was the insert for the pressure gauges, however, nothing that could not be solved with an inclined construction plane and little else. It consists of two USB charging ports, a plug, the power control for 3 hoses and an air compressor, a socket for the airbrush and pressure gauges to control the pressure.

I was considering the possibility of putting it flush with the table but at that moment it occurred to me to make a sliding lid similar to that of the tool cabinet. So I looked through the remains of previous projects for some bearings for the lid. With it I gained several things, the first being that it looks really good, on the other hand the guides provide rigidity to the table as they are embedded inside and thanks to the drilling holes they have, they easily support the box and the push of plugging something in.

Lo primero que hice fue comprobar las medidas máximas de las que disponía en la mesa, teniendo en cuenta un soporte central que lleva y el ancho que podría usar sin perder comodidad ni amplitud. En segundo lugar ordene todos los componentes como quería que fueran y pase a hacer el diseño de la caja en fusion.

El diseño del panel de control es bastante simple, quizás la parte mas compleja resulto el inserto para los manómetros, no obstante, nada que no se solucionara con un plano de construcción inclinado y poco mas. Consta de dos puertos de carga usb, un enchufe, el control de encendido de 3 flexos y un compresor de aire, toma para el aerógrafo y manómetros para controlar la presión.

Estaba barajando la posibilidad de ponerlo a ras de la mesa pero en ese momento se me ocurrió hacerle una tapa deslizante estilo a la de los armario de herramientas. Así que busque entre los restos de proyectos anteriores unos rodamientos para la tapa. Con ella ganaba varias cosas, la primera que queda realmente bien, por otro lado las guías aportan rigidez a la mesa al ir encastradas en su interior y gracias a los orificios de perforación que tiene, soportan fácilmente la caja y el empuje de enchufar algo.

We proceed to assemble the control station itself by making the pertinent electrical connections. While the connections are quite simple and largely depends on what you want to connect, I have left a small freehand sketch. Keep in mind that the switches that I use are illuminated, so in addition to the phase, they must have the neutral, if they are normal switches, the latter would have to be ignored. Also and above all, say that the most important thing is safety, so if you do not know very well what or how you should make the connections, contact someone who knows, never work with the power plugged in and without following strict safety regulations. That said, the scheme is quite simple, from the power that we bring to the plug, we take advantage of the phase to pass it through one of the legs of each switch, to the other leg, we will connect the hose, compressor,..... and the other cable of the hose will go to the neutral of the same plug. Since there are many flexes and sockets, I chose to make all the connections in an outdoor junction box. For the USB ports, simply connect them to a USB cable and this to a mobile charger, easy and convenient.

Procedemos a montar el puesto de control propiamente dicho realizando las conexiones eléctricas pertinentes. Si bien las conexiones son bastante simples y depende en gran medida de lo que quieras conectar, he dejado un pequeño boceto a mano alzada. Tened en cuenta que los interruptores que yo uso son iluminados, con lo que además de la fase, deben llevar el neutro, de ser interruptores normales, este ultimo habría que obviarlo. También y sobre todo decir que lo mas importante es la seguridad, así que si no sabes muy bien el que o como deberías hacer las conexiones contacta con alguien que sepa, nunca trabajes con la corriente enchufada y sin seguir unas estrictas normas de seguridad. Dicho esto, el esquema es bastante simple, de la alimentacion que llevamos a el echufe, aprovechamos la fase para pasarla por una de las patas de cada interruptor, a la otra pata, conectaremos el flexo, compresor,..... y el otro cable del flexo ira al neutro del mismo enchufe. Como son muchos flexos y tomas, opte por realizar todas las conexiones en una caja de empalmes exterior. Para los puertos usb, simplemente los conecte a un cable usb y este a un cargador de un móvil, fácil y resultón.

Ikea tables are usually of this type. Two layers of MDF covering some strips of corrugated cardboard, it shouldn't be difficult to cut.

With the final fusion measurements, we draw the area to be cut and with the jigsaw we do the same. Next we install the guides by lightly pressing the corrugated cardboard, insert the door and screw the box. Finally we glue the frame on top.

The other connections are made to the hoses, power outlet, compressed air... And check operation.

Las mesas de Ikea suelen ser de este tipo. Dos capas de MDF que cubren unas tiras de cartón ondulado, no debería ser complicado cortarlo.

Con las medidas finales de fusion, dibujamos la zona a cortar y con la sierra de calar hacemos lo propio. A continuación instalamos las guías prensando ligeramente el cartón ondulado, introducimos la puerta y atornillamos la caja. Por ultimo pegamos el marco en la parte superior.

Se realizan las demás conexiones a los flexos, toma de corriente, aire comprimido... Y comprueba funcionamiento.

To cover the electrical connections and also add a little more storage, I designed in tinkercad and later in fusion, a piece of furniture to be able to put the largest things, such as the airbrush, the mini drill accessories, the paint booth and little else.

The design in tinkercad turned out to be much simpler and more visual than in fusion, on the other hand when it came to knowing what measurements I had to make each hole, with tinkercad it was impossible or too expensive for me, so I started doing the same in fusion and delimiting each wood on its own, writing it down on a piece of paper and later transferring said measurements to the board. An important thing to keep in mind when making this type of fusion designs is to make new bodies in each extrusion, instead of joints. This way we will have each piece of wood separately and it will be simple to turn off the body and see the others or take their measurements.

Para tapar las conexiones eléctricas y además añadir un poco mas de almacenamiento, diseñe en tinkercad y posteriormente en fusion, un mueble para poder meter las cosas mas grandes, como el aerógrafo, los accesorios del mini taladro, la cabina de pintura y poco mas.

El diseño en tinkercad resulto mucho mas simple y visual que en fusion, por contra a la hora de saber que medidas tenia que hacer cada perforación, con tinkercad me fue imposible o demasiado costoso, con lo que pase a hacer el mismo en fusion y acotar cada madera por su lado, apuntándola en un papel y posteriormente pasando dichas medias a el tablero. Como cosa importante a tener en cuenta a la hora de hacer este tipo de diseños en fusion, es ir haciendo cuerpos nuevos en cada extrusión, en vez de uniones. Así tendremos cada trozo de madera por separado y será simple apagar el cuerpo y ver los demás o coger sus medidas.

Once the relevant cuts have been made, it is simply glued with wood glue and some custom nails are inserted for a firm hold. Once the assembly and pertinent checks have been completed, we will proceed to sand, prime and then paint the furniture.

Una vez realizado los cortes pertinentes, simplemente se pega con cola para madera y se le meten unos clavos propios a su medida para una firme sujeción. Una vez realizado el montaje y las comprobaciones pertinentes, procederemos a lijar, imprimar y posteriormente pintar el mueble.

Although, in my case, when making the cut with the jigsaw, they did not come out excessively straight, there is no need to worry too much since I have designed some trims to print in 3D so that they cover all the joints of the box and give it that touch of... a professional finish (although it is more amateurish). For this occasion I designed these profiles in fusion and printed the angles on one side and the slats on the other, since except for the front drawer that fit in the printer bed, the rest had to be done in parts, but well, mark, cut and paste.

Si bien, en mi caso, al realizar el corte con la sierra de calar, no salieron excesivamente derechos, no hay que preocuparse mucho puesto que he diseñado unos embellecedores para imprimirlos en 3d de manera que tapen todas las juntas de la caja y le den ese toque de....acabado profesional (aunque tire mas a amateur). Para esta ocasión dichos perfiles los diseñe en fusion e imprimí los ángulos por un lado y los listones por otro, ya que salvo el cajón frontal que cabía en la cama de la impresora, lo demás tuvo que hacerse por partes, pero bueno, marcar, cortar y pegar.

With a simple wood nut or a rivet or plasterboard block,... there are many options, we drill the table, we put it with a little cyanoacrylate and we will have our support for the welder, simple and very effective.

Con una sencilla tuerca para madera o un remache o taco de pladul,.... hay muchas opciones, taladramos la mesa, lo metemos con un poco de cianocrilato y tendremos nuestro soporte para el soldador, sencillo y muy efectivo.

Finally, we place the furniture with all its things under the checkpoint, and enjoy!
