Adorable DIY Coin Bank for Kids
This DIY coin bank is the sweetest and simplest craft for kids! If you have an empty tissue box lying around, I highly recommend turning it into this adorable cow "piggy bank"!
We love transforming our recyclables into new, creative projects. We've turned toilet paper rolls into napkin rings, empty glue bottles into play food, and tin cans into pencil holders and candy dishes! So, we are thrilled to make a coin bank out of a simple tissue box!
There are so many benefits to making upcyled crafts. Not only do these crafts encourage kids to think creatively, but they also teach kids the value of conserving resources and caring for the environment. And as a bonus, when we transform used materials into useful items or gifts, we save money!
Supplies
- Empty tissue box
- Pencil
- Construction paper (white, pink and black)
- Black marker or black Sharpie
- Scissors (kid-friendly scissors)
Cover Tissue Box With White Construction Paper
Trace and cut out the outline of the top of your tissue box. Next, trace and cut out the outline of all four of the box's sides (note: all sides are the same size). Glue each cutout to its respective surface.
Add the Cow's Features!
Cut out and glue on the features for the cow's face:
- Ears: Two white triangles with pink centers. Note: Bend back the bottom edges of white triangles slightly and use glue to fasten the ears to the top of the box (on the edge closest to cow's face).
- Snout: A pink, oval shape. Use a black Sharpie to draw your cow's nostrils, and draw a smile right below the snout.
- Spots: A handful of small, black shapes to scatter around your box's surface.
Create a Coin Drop
To create the bank's coin drop, create a small slit over the hole on the top of the tissue box. Note: We just used a pencil to gently form the hole. Enjoy your piggy bank!
