Adjustable Hanging Pencil Holder

Having organized school supplies is important so I figured I would make something that did just that. I decided to create a pencil holder that is easily attachable to any desk and can be out of the way if you really need that desk space. Another added plus is that if your desk ever shakes your pencil holder is conveniently attached so you don't spill any of your pens, pencils, or markers.

All you need in order to make or edit this design is Fusion 360

If you want to 3D print it although you will need a 3D printer

My inspiration was mostly just regular pencil holders. Although the hanging pencil holder shown here gave me the idea to create an hanging/attachable pencil holder for your desk.

This is just a simple sketch of what I had in mind so I could check back on what I wanted to CAD.

The CAD modeling for the pencil holder is quite simple I mostly just sketched out the shape of the pencil holder and extruded it. After extruding I added a bottom section for the screw to attach to the pencil holder. Then I filleted the edges to make it smoother and look a bit nicer. The screw model was a cylinder extruded and then threaded, then I threaded the hole I created on the pencil holder to allow the screw to screw in. I also decided to add some lines in the cup holder to make a nicer looking design.

I enjoyed making this idea and although it's pretty simple. While I did think about making something a bit more complex personally I thought this could be useful to someone, I mean even I could find a use for this as my desk shifts around a lot and I've found problems with things getting knocked over. The pencil holder turned out pretty much how I imagined it to be with some small design changes here and there. Overall I did enjoy doing this project and I hope maybe someone else can find a use for this.
