Adaptive Controller
This design utilizes a pad segmented into six parts covered in a conductive material. The first addon for this design uses a handle with a strap. The handle hangs loosely and has conductive material on the bottom which completes the circuit when touching one of the segments of the pad. To use it, you drag the handle around the pad and drag it over the segments corresponing to the correct buttons.
The second addon attaches the the bottom of your foot and has conductive material on the bottom. Similar to the handle, you drag it around the pad with your foot.
Supplies
Begin Cutting Foam Core
Begin by cutting the foam core into a long rectangle shape
Cut TInfoil
Cut out a large rectangle of cardboard. Then begin cutting the segments. I cut mine in an X shape, with two squares to be used as extra buttons
Tape Tinfoil to Foam Core
Tape the tinfoil to the board. Make sure that there is a lot of space and that none of the tinfoil is touching underneath.
Wiring
Attach wiring to the outside of the board so that it is touching the tin foil. If there isn't enough space, use conductive tape to reach the tin foil from the edge
Begin Handle
Create a cylinder. To do this, I cut up a piece of foam core and bent it into the desired shape.
Print Handle Part
Print out the part that will attach to the handle. When finished, place it on the end of the cylinder and glue it in place
Finishing Touches
Tape tinfoil to the end of the piece attached to the handle. Then use conductive tape to extend the tinfoil up the side of the handle. Attach alligator clip.
Now cut out two strips of velcro and glue them to either end, this will be the strap
Begin Foot Addon
Trace out your foot on a piece of cardboard and cut it out. This will serve as a base for the addon
Finish Foot Addon
Tape a square of tinfoil to the tip of the foot piece. use conductive tape and connect this to an alligator clip. Then cut out two more velcro strips, and glue these to both sides to create a strap.
Testing!!!
Plug all alligator clips into desired input on the makey-makey. Then use this program to test the controller out.
