In this Instructable, I will show you how to do acrylic nails.

Supplies

You'll need a disposable towel to put down on your workplace, an EMA Monomer, a Dappen dish, acrylic powder, a 100% Kolinsky acrylic brush, nail tips, a nail drill, primer and bond, and nail tip cutters.

Nail Prep

File the shine off of natural nails with a nail drill and #240 grit sanding band. Glue the nail tip with nail glue, apply primer and bond on the natural nail.

Acrylic Application

For this step, you need a 100% Kolinsky brush; you will need to add monomer into a Dappen dish, soak your brush until there are no more air bubbles, drain the monomer out of your brush, pick up an acrylic bead, wait for it to polymerize and then place it on the nail. When you put it on the nail, tuck the sides of the bead into the sides of the nail. When you're shaping the acrylic while it is still wet, keep the monomer in your brush so no acrylic gets stuck and dries in the brush.

Filing/Shaping

When you are filing or shaping, make sure you are careful not to cut your client with the file. On the acrylic, I use 80/80 grit, so it goes a little faster. I ensure the apex is built enough and the shape looks good enough for the client. I make sure the top is smooth with no bumps. I also go over it with a #240 grit sanding band and make sure my shape is good.

Practice makes perfect!
