Acetone Dye & Epoxy Floor

I was working with a concrete floor that required a 'WOW' factor for a restaurant. They wanted something a little different than the average floor. After reviewing different options we decided using an acetone dye with an epoxy coating would provide the look we were looking for.

I removed any caulk from the expansion joints and filled them with a conrete filler. I then used a concrete grinder to get the concrete ready to receive the dye and epoxy. There are chemicals that can be used as well to open the concrete up in order to get it ready to receive the coatings. From my experience grinding the concrete does a better job allowing the coatings to adhere better and for a longer time.

I mixed the dye in acetone and sprayed iy on the concrete using different patterns. I used a sprayer that is made to spray acetone. Afterwards I used acetone by itself without dye and moved the coloring around to give the floor a different type of look.

I used an epoxy clear coat with a roller to seal the coloring and provide a durable coating. 2 coats were necessary to get the finished look I was going for.
