I used about 9' of i/8" cotton cord to make the mat (3 1/2" x 5")
Makes a nice flat lanyard.

Fold cord and bring Working End (WE) over to the left.

Bring WE back to the left.

Bring WE back to the right crossing over two strands.

Bring WE down crossing over two strands.

Bring new WE over to the right.

Bring WE up crossing under two strands.

Bring WE over to the left crossing over, under, over, under.

The mat base is complete.
Double or triple the layout to finish the mat. Tie each end to its neighboring strand with a constrictor knot and trim the ends
