This is ABOK 2207. Each face is split into 4 segments. ABOK 2206 is known as the double monkey fist. This could be the double-double monkey fist.

This can be tied in hand but it is so much easier to use a jig. I took a scrap bit of wood and drilled 4 holes a bit farther apart than the core I used.

I have made an emergency jig using 2 "U" shaped pieces of wire clothes hanger pushed through a piece of heavy cardboard (Styrofoam) and taped in place.

The split face monkey fist needs an even number of turns. In this case I made six turns around the jig.

Then bring the WE (Working End) to the front, across the top and then under 3 strands, over 3 strands both in back and in front. Do this 3 times.

Then bring the WE over 3 strands, under 3 strands, 3 times.

In order to keep the over, under sequence correct bring the WE across the top of the knot and around the upper left hand peg of the jig.

Begin the under 3 strands, over 3 strands as you go down the left hand side of the knot.

When you get to the top side of the knot on the right bring the W under 3 strands , over 4 strands and continue the weave.

After completing the under, sequence bring the WE down under all six strands of the knot. This is so there are not 2 overs in sequence. Begin over 3 strands, under 3 strands.

When you get to the top bring the WE over 4, under 3 and complete the weave.

Take the Monkey Fist off the jig and begin to take out the slack.

You will notice that there are three places where there is an extra strand that is under all six strands of the knot. See center of photo.

If you want to you can make a loop from this knot by pulling it up through the face of the knot as I did in the two examples shown in the introduction. It is more obvious in the all blue MF.
