Ashley calls this knot a very secure decorative knot.
He also points out that both faces of the knot are similar in appearance to the sheet bend knot.

Make an overhand knot as shown.

Bring working end (WE) to the left.

Bring the other end to the right over the WE. forming two bights at top of knot.

In the next two steps:
End A will go under two strands and up through bight a.
End B will go over two strands and down through bight b.

Under two and up through bight.


Over two and down through bight.
Tighten knot.
