A Very Large Electronic Music Score Display

Electronic sheet music displays usually run on tablets. While these tablets are convenient and mobile, they are small, expensive and show only one page: you must swap pages without delay, which may interfere with your performance.
This sheet music player is not mobile, but will display 2,5 full sized pages of sheet music at once and uses old hardware practically for free.
No extra software, no programming needed.
Supplies
- A computer monitor (ideally a 23" 2K display or more, but a plain HD flat screen monitor will do too)
- An old laptop, but any other computer will do
- A configurable USB three-switch pedal, alternatively a USB Midi interface.
Setting Up Your Computer
All you will need is a computer running the well known browser Firefox.
This can be done on Windows, MacOS or Linux, it does not matter.
Install Firefox, if you don't have it already.
Configure Your Computer to Open PDF Documents With Firefox

You will now Configure your computer to open PDF documents with Firefox:
- Windows: Go to settings, apps, default apps. enter .pdf chose Firefox as the default app.
- macOS: locate any PDF file, right-click (or Ctrl-click) on it, select "Get Info", and then in the "Open with" section, choose Firefox from the dropdown menu. Then click "Change All" to apply this change globally.
- Linux: We have got too many Linux distributions to describe here how to do it, but I can assume that a Linux-user knows how to do it with his own distribution.
Configure to Get Multiple Pages Displayed

Open the page "about:config" in Firefox,
search for pdfjs.scrollModeOnLoad,
set its value to 1
Getting the Right Zoom Setting

Contunue on page "about:config",
search for pdfjs.defaultZoomValue,
set its value to "page fit".
Loading the Scores to Firefox.

Double click on the score(s) you want to play
Your Firefox browser will now display your scores on one or several tabs.
You Have Reached Your Target !

That's it ! you have your score displayed in a gorgeous way with several pages at once!
You can now flip pages with the up/down keys of your keyboard.
If you have several scores, you can then change the score with ctrl-Tab
Flipping Pages Hands-free (USB-Pedal)

I have e.g. purchased that 3 switch programmable USB pedal on a Chinese store. Got it even cheaper.
You get instructions to program the switches from the vendor.
Program
- the left switch to the up-key
- the middle switch to ctrl-tab key
- the right switch to the down key
and you are done
Flipping Pages Hands-free (Midi-Pedal)

If you are using an ePiano with a midi interface to your computer, you may use the less used left pedal of your piano to flip pages. All you need is the free software CoyoteMidi
Then just add the translation from the left pedal to the down-key and you are done...
