Cut, Drill and Rout the Wood

Find a piece of scrap in your workshop that is approximately 1" x 6" x 18" long. If you find a larger piece, cut it to size using your mitre saw. I used a piece of walnut, but you can use any species of solid wood.

Set up your drill press with the Forstner bit and drill three holes as listed on the sketch.

Setup your trimmer or router with a chamfer bit and and chamfer a scrap piece of wood to determine how much of a chamfer you like on the top outside edge of the board. Once you determine, run the trimmer along the entire top outside edge of the board.

Sand and Stain the Board

Sand the entire board and use a tack cloth to remove the dust.

Stain the board with your color of choice. I used a Spanish Oak stain.

After the stain dries, attach the weather station dials per the instructions and gift to your favorite person.
