A Sustainable House Idea of Mine...
Everyone is hopefully worrying about global warming and how to limit pollution (hopefully). So I thought about trying to make a sustainable house on Floorplanner a free software for planning out a home. Also before I forget if you see some walls missing they are still there but floorplanner is glitching a little bit because of all the grass and textures of the grass and all the other textures.
Materials
I'm going to list everything that I used and i'm not going to list anything to build this home In Real Life
- Computer
- Would recommend a mouse
- pencil
- paper
- and hope to finish this thing
Planning
Firstly, I got a piece of paper and sketched a home design that looks appealing to the eye. Then, I added some finishing touches to my sketch and went onto Step 2 of this Instructable.
Putting Ideas on the Computer
After I logged into my computer I found Floorplanner and I thought i'll give it a try. I started with placing a few walls to resemble the sketch I made previously. Then came the fun part of making this sustainable home come to life! After all that I added on a garage and a bedroom along with the wall separating the kitchen from the front door.
Finishing the House
Once I did all of Step 3 I added terrain around the house and didn't forget the sustainable aspects of the house. These sustainable aspects are
- Solar Panels, they will collect solar electricity an provide the house with electricity
- Skylights, they will provide natural light for the whole house so that we don't waste electricity on lighting
- LED Lights, LED lights will be used in this house to minimize heat coming off of them and to use less electricity
- Indoor garden, this will be used to grow your own vegetables so that you wouldn't need to go to the store as much.
- Electric car, This will reduce the pollution when you drive around to stores or anywhere.
- Water Collector,we will have a water collector thing to catch rain water to store for later use.
- Local Materials, we will use local materials to minimize the amount of pollution that shipping materials takes
- Thick Walls, These will be used for insulating the house so that it keeps heat/cool air in to reduce the amount of energy heating takes.
