A SolidWorks Door Plate
A door plate design in solidworks
The Parts
Under a new sketch, create a rectangle that is 5" x 2 1/2"
select features (on the top left) and click "Extrude Boss/Base." Then extrude the sketch to .125" and Save.
Slot Holder
In a new document create/sketch the slot holder. *(look at the picture)
After the sketch is finish, "Extrude Boss/Base" to 5"
Making the Room Number Plate
In a new document make start by making a 1" x 5" rectangle.
Then create the numbers (511 for example) needed. (use the line tools and arch to help make the numbers)

select features (on the top left) and click "Extrude Boss/Base." Then extrude the sketch to .125" and Save.
Assembly
In a new "assembly" document, start by "Inserting Components"
Add: 1) the solid plate (plate without room number)
2) two (2) slot holder
Add: 1) the solid plate (plate without room number)
2) two (2) slot holder
In the toolbar, select "Mate"
Select "Coincident" on the side and mate the inner edge of the slot holder to an edge of the plate. Click the green check-mark when finish
Next (again) Select "Coincident" on the side and mate the face of the slot holder to the face of the place. Click the green check-mark when finish.
Next (again) Select "Coincident" on the side and mate the corner of the slot holder to the corner of the plate. Click the green check-mark when finish.
(Repeat for Second Slot Holder)
Repeat Steps 9 through 11

Assembly (Cont.)
Insert the plate with the room number.

In the toolbar, select "Mate"
Select "Coincident" on the side.
Mate the bottom edge of the "number plate" to the top edge of the bigger plate with the slot holders. Click the green check-mark when finish.
After you finish, continue to mate by mating the top edge of the "number plate" to the top edge of the bigger plate with the slot holders. Click the green check-mark when finish.
Next, continue the mate by mating the comer of both the pieces.
In the toolbar, select "Mate"
Select "Coincident" on the side.
Mate the bottom edge of the "number plate" to the top edge of the bigger plate with the slot holders. Click the green check-mark when finish.
After you finish, continue to mate by mating the top edge of the "number plate" to the top edge of the bigger plate with the slot holders. Click the green check-mark when finish.
Next, continue the mate by mating the comer of both the pieces.
FINISH
Final design should look like this.
