A Rubber Band and Stick Holding Trick

I recently had to temporarily hold some things together and came up with this very simple technique. Just wrap the rubber band around the things to be held at least once. I did it twice in the photos. Stick one end of the rubber band through the loop at the other end. Then, push a stick through the loop, which keeps the loop from pulling back through.
It's like a little bungee cord.
