A One-of-a-kind 3D Printed Hanging Pot

This project uses 3D printing to make a gorgeous hanging pot with a unique shape. The design integrates both a removable watering plate and screw-on hanging attachment!

Print the Components

Start by downloading the STL files. You can then use the slicer of your choosing to prepare the printing file. All of the components can be printed together without supports on a 0,2mm layer resolution. You can use either PETg or PLA, though I suggest using PETg for a longer lasting pot, specially if you plan to install it outdoors.

The full printing time is roughly 5 hours, dependig on your slicer settings, so plan accordingly! Link to the parts on Thingiverse: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4840912

Start Assembling the Pot

Once you have printed all of the parts you can begin to assemble the pot. You can start by inserting the piece of cord inside the body of the pot and making a knot to hold it in place. Next, you should measure the length of cord needed by checking where you want to install it and cut the excess.

Assemble the Watering Plate

Screw the linking piece to the watering plate. If you want you can even use a screwdriver as it has a groove on the top. Once it is ready you can put together the pot by inserting the link into de bottom of the planter and making a small twist to lock it into place.

Tie the Cord to the Hanging Attachment

Again, pass the cord through the hole in the hanging attachment and make a knot to hold it in place.

Pass the Screw Through the Coupler to Get It Ready for the Installation

The coupler acts as a link between the screw and the hanger attachment. The screw this way remains hidden and the hanger attachment is flush with the hanging surface!

Screw the Coupler to the Ceiling or to a Beam

Pick a place to hang your pot, make a hole and screw the coupler to the Ceiling or Beam

Choose Your Plant

Now's the time to pick a plant for your pot. Carefully place it inside and fill the pot with soil. I have found that making a funnel out of a paper sheet to get the soil in makes it a lot easier.

Install Your Pot

Screw the plant attachment to the coupler and you are done!

Enjoy Your Pot!

Now that the planter is installed all that is left is to enjoy the view... and maybe even receive some unexpected visitors!
