A Great Tip! Store Vegetables in Tinfoil!

I am excited to share this tip that I have been doing for a while. It really does work! The tip is to store your vegetables in tinfoil in your refrigerator!

Everyone Has Tinfoil!

Use your tinfoil that you have in your cupboard.

Any Fresh Vegetable Will Do!

Today I have fresh zucchini squash. Other vegetables to wrap in tinfoil are:

Green beans

Belgian endive

Broccoli

Brussels sprouts

Cabbage

Carrots

Cauliflower

Chard

Cucumbers

Eggplant

Leafy greens

Lettuce

Okra

Parsley

Peas

Peppers

Spinach

Squash

Sweet potatoes

Watercress

Cut Off a Piece of Tinfoil

Don’t clean produce until you’re ready to use it. Washing vegetables before storing them makes them more likely to spoil, because dampness encourages bacteria growth.

Cut the tinfoil large enough to completely cover the vegetable. Place vegetable in center of the tinfoil.

Wrapping the Vegetable

To keep your vegetable crisp, wrap tightly in tinfoil, not plastic wrap, so the ethylene gas it produces can escape. Re-wrap tightly after each use.

Pull the tinfoil over your vegetable, covering it completely. Pull up the ends. It is a lot like wrapping a present!

Place in Vegetable Crisper

Place your wrapped vegetable in the crisper drawer of your refrigerator. The tinfoil will help to keep veggies crisp for up to 4 weeks. (Next I will wrap the lettuce that you can see in the back!)

You're welcome!!! :)
