A Complete Guide to Bird Watching

Have you ever wondered how to watch birds without disturbing their natural habitat? This guide will show you how.

I live in the country of north America, so I have a book of birding in N.A. Birds live in different regions, so look up the regions that birds live in. I live in MA so I looked up the birds near my town. It is realy quite simple. There are usually the places that the birds live in in the index. Look up the bird where you live and learn about birding by identifying their chirping pattern, egg color, prey, and favorite birdseed.

Since the blue jay Is the only jay in my region, I chose to watch it. In order to watch this bird, I must find out it's favorite birdseed and what it preys on. If you just want to watch all birds, make or buy a variety of birdseed. I also recommend you watch the chickadee, because they are brave and very nice to humans. If you want an adventure, look for falcons or the parrots of where you live.

A camera is very important for bird watching. A case is useful for safety but you may not take it out in time. It you are quick at taking photos I would recommend a smaller camera. But if you are strong and don't mind heavy cameras, I would recommend a larger camera. It isnt always about size. You also have to read whether your camera is HD, how long it's battery lasts, and if it is quick to take a picture.

You need a hat you warm you in the winter and block the sun in summer. I wear my "lucky" hat for extra luck. A visor is good but put sunscreen of your head or ears.

If your looking to not only watch, but study birds, you should know what the features of a bird is. Body: basics A bird has a group of feathers on it's head called a crown. There is a ring under it's eye called the eye ring. It has whiskers on it's throat. It has flanks under it's wing. It has an ear patch over it's ears. It has a nose but the only bird that can smell is a vulture. Wing: under wing basics A bird has a group of feathers under it's wing called axillars. It DOES have a wrist leading to the edge of it's wing. Wing: top of the wing basics It has a group of primaries, and secondary wings. It also has a speculum, which is a group of white feathers separating the body's feathers from a colorful spot.
