A Card Holder

I was playing Catan and I starting to get annoyed that the resource cards kept flying everywhere one someone bumped them so I decided to make some sort of card holder. I had some old foam board 5mm thick from a foam glider I made and I also had some coloured felt from a cell diorama that I made for a School project.

Supplies

  1. foam board
  2. coloured felt (optional but recommended)
  3. Scissors
  4. glue
  5. marker

Creating Layers

First get some foam board and mark out 6 rectangles. The formula I used to work out the length and width is length = 1+(1/2number of card piles * (length of card piles +1)), width = width of card piles +2. Once you mark out the rectangles cut them out.

Now Mark out a gap for each card pile that you have and have a gap between each pile gap of 1 cm then mark a small opening for each gap. It should look like the first image above. Now once you have mark one mark all the rest of the rectangles except for one. Then cut along the markings. They should now look some what similar to mine except better because I have poor motor skills.

Glue each layer together and than glue the flat rectangle you didn’t cut on the bottom. Your card holder is now functioning however you should add some felt.

Now cut a bits of felt to cover the card holder so it looks like it does above.
