9V Matchbox

This instructables will show you how to make a nice-looking matchbox from an old 9V battery.

What you need:
     -9V Battery (perhaps empty)
     -needlenose pliers
     -heavy-duty tape
     -matches
     -match-lighting sandpaper
     -epoxy-type glue

Prying Open the Battery

First step:

Use your needlenose pliers to pry open the battery.

Taking Out the Insides

Second Step:

Take out the insides of the battery so that you are left with an empty battery case. If the batteries aren't empty, they can be used as normal 1.5V batteries. Other then that, everything else exept the top lid with the terminals can be thrown away.

Stabilizing the Bottom

Third step:

Fill in a little glue, just enough to cover the bottom and let it harden.
This keeps the bottom plate from moving or popping out.

Putting in the Top Lid

Fourth step:

Before proceeding, check if your battery case has a notch inside as seen on pic #1.
if so, take a strip of heavy-duty tape and stick it to the bottom of the top lid as seen on pic #2. Check that the tape is on the side of the notch.
Then, Stick the tape of the top lid to the inside of the battery case as seen on pic #3. Pay attention that the flat side of the lid is on the side of the notch in the battery case.

if your battery case and lid don't have notches, do like instructed without paying attention to where to put the tape and how to place it inside the battery case.

In the end it should look like pic #4.

Putting in the Matches

Fifth step:

Next up is putting in matches.
Since the size of the 9V battery might be smaller than the matches, you may have to cut them to length.

Last Step

Sixth and last step:

Cut out some match-lighting sandpaper and either:

-put it inside the 9V battery case

or

-cut it small enough to glue it to the bottom of the 9V battery.
