9 Volt Remote Control Pusher Battlebot
Supplies
You will need:
- Cardboard
- A remote control and receiver
- 1 9 volt battery connector
- 9 volt battery
- 3 Tires
- 3 Straws
- 4 pulleys (2 big, 2 small) and 2 rubber bands
- 2 DC motors
- 1 LED light
- 1 bottle cap
- 1 switch (ON/OFF)
- Metal rods or sticks
- A centimetre ruler
- A scissors and a craft knife
- A glue gun
- A soldering iron (Optional: A glue gun can be used to secure connections too!)
Cut Out Chassis and Attach Drive Train
Cut out the spaces for the tires and pulley which attaches to the DC motor and the tire through a rubber band which would deliver power to the tires. Ensure that the DC motors are wired correctly so that the receiver would be able to control it in the correct direction.
(The motor will be driving the bigger pulley)
The back green tire rolls freely due to a metal rod that goes through the straw and the tire. Also a metal rod goes through the front tires, pulleys and the straws.
Building the Interior Body
Connect the receiver up to the DC motors and start to build protection guards for the tires and battery container for the 9 volt battery.
The robot has a tank like principle of movement... to go LEFT the left tire goes back and the right tire goes forward and to go RIGHT the left tire goes forward and the right tire goes back.
I created a child friendly diagram of the connections in the robot so that anyone can understand it.
Building the Exterior Body
Build the sides of the battlebot and bend the flap at the front downwards to a reasonable level for the front wedge.
If you would like, add a LED light to the front of the battlebot to indicate when the switch at the back has been turned on.
(I glued a bottle cap over the LED to give the robot a cool illuminating effect)
Finishing Touches and Naming
Add the final top part of the battlebot which would give you access to the battery compartment and the rest of the battlebot then glue the teeth to the wedge. Lastly give your new battlebot a cool name then your DONE!!!
