Wiring
Above is a reference picture of the circuit that you could follow for the wiring process!
1. Prepare all materials needed
2. Use 5 wires to connect to the 8×8 Dot Matrix
- VCC connect to 5v
- GND connect to GND
- DIN connect to D12
- CS connect to D10
- CLK connect D11
3. Type code
4. Connect to computer [Arduino] with USB connector
Making the Cover - Cardboard Sizes
Specific carboard sizes
18.2cm x 12.4cm - x2 [Top & Bottom]
12.6cm x 5.6cm - x2 [Left & Right]
17.7cm x 5.8cm - x2 [Front & Back]
Taping the Arduino Board - Optional
Here is a tip and suggestion while making/gluing the cover!
I suggest using some [clear] tape to secure the Arduino board on the bottom piece of cardboard in case it becomes inconvenient to work with later on during the gluing process.
Gluing the Pieces
Here is a picture reference for the gluing layout of the cover
- Remember to cut a small hole for your USB connecter on the left
- Don't glue the top piece [cardboard] yet
Follow the layout and glue the cardboard together securely with hot glue
Top Piece of Cover
The top piece of cover should come last to glue on
- Remember to cut a small square for the 8x8 matrix LED to display
- Use tape to tape down both sides of the LED matrix on the cardboard
- Remember to plug in the connector before you seal off the top!
Final Product + Decoration Tape [Optional]
The final product/cover should be looking like something from the reference picture
The final step would be to run in the code and the product is then finished
Optional:
Use decoration tape to cover the edges of the cover [As it might seem messy with the hot glue]
