7$ Function Generator Kit With XR2206 Problems: Don't Buy Before Watching

Function Generator aka signal generator is an important piece of equipment for a hobbyist or tinkerer. but

they are so expensive and it’s quite hard for a beginner to get one. Cheaper alternatives do exist. I have tested the XR2206 function generator kit. Having so many problems still, this kit meets my expectations.

The signal generator based on the XR2206 function generator IC, you can achieve sinewave, square wave & Triangle wave up to 1MHz.

This is sold in a kit form. So you have to assemble all the provided parts to use this kit.

After assembling I have hooked up two wires - one is on the 'ground' and the other to the square wave terminal. This terminal can only provide Square waves from 611 millihertz to 1.22 MHz although the signal gets distorted above 500KHz.

Sine waves and triangle waves are formed perfectly in between the full range of 900 mHz to 1.22 MHz.

There's always around 5.56V of DC offset in the output.

Also we can't change the duty cycle of the signal.

Overall I would say it's a pretty decent kit for a beginner. Maybe there're so many things we have missed with this but you are getting what you have paid for. With a 700 rs price bracket, it is a pretty good kit and Of course portable. This kit is also recommended if you are even a pro. Because it's small and you can carry it everywhere.
