6 Halloween Party Ideas
This tutorial will help you with six great ideas that can be used at any Halloween party no matter the age. Each tutorial is easy to make and very cost effective. You'll be sure to Wow your guests.
Halloween Inspired Centerpiece
Step 1- Gather Your Materials
Card Stock Paper ( 3- Halloween colors)
Small fish bowl
Styrofoam plate
Styrofoam balls (1 large and 8 small ones) or clay
Toothpicks
Glue Gun
Glue Sticks
Plastic Spiders
ek tool flower punch (I used the Retro Flower Puncher)
Knife
Pen
Scissors
pipe cleaner
Step 2- Cutting Flowers
Using the ek tool puncher, punch out 16 flowers of each color.
Step 3- Make The Flowers 3D
Fold each pedal from each flower lengthwise to create a 3D effect as shown on the pictures.
Step 4- Gluing The Flowers
Using the glue gun, place a small dot of hot glue in the center of a flower. Then, place a second folded flower on top of the flower that has the glue. Both colors must be visible. The pedals should create a color pattern wheel. Finally, place a third folded flower of a different color in the same direction where you placed the initial flower. .
Step 5 Decorating The Flowers
Place a small amount of glue on some of the flowers and place a plastic spider.
Step 6 Cut The Styrofoam Balls
Cut all the styrofoam balls in half using a knife.
Step 7 Adding A Stem To The Flower
Using a half of a styrofoam ball, place glue on the back of a flower and place the flat end of the styrofoam ball. Then, place a small dot of glue on the curved surface of the already glued half styrofoam ball and place a toothpick through the styrofoam. The toothpick will be the stem of each flower. Repeat step 7 until all flowers have a stem.
Step 8 Creating A Base for the Bouquet
Using a styrofoam plate and the base of your small fishbowl, trace the bottom of the fishbowl with a pen. Then, use scissors to cut out the circle you just drew.
Step 9 Creating the Bouquet
Using the glue gun, place some glue on the center of the circle cutout from step 8 and glue the larger half a styrofoam ball. Then, begin placing the flowers on the recently glued styrofoam ball. Begin with the center flower as shown on the pictures and continue to place flowers side by side. Avoid leaving any empty spaces, but avoid overcrowding as well.
Step 10 Gluing Spiders
Glue a plastic spider on the center of each flower.
Step 11- Painting the Jack-O-Lantern
Using orange paint, coat a styrofoam ball several times until you reach your desired shade of orange. Then, using a Sharpie marker paint the Jack-O-Lantern's face. Finally, place a piece of green pipe cleaner to create a stem for the pumpkin.
Step 12- Hanging the Jack-O-Lantern
Using a thin piece of thread hang the Jack-O-Lantern from the styrofoam plate as shown on the pictures.
Step 13- Putting the Bouquet Together
Quickly place hot glue around the edge of the styrofoam plate and place immediately on the fishbowl.
Step 14- Place on a table and enjoy your Halloween party.
Spicy Bloody Potatoes
Step 1 Gather Your Materials
You will need the following:
Small Potatoes
Chamoy Sauce
Chile De Arbol Peppers
1 Lime or lemon
Blender
Pot
Step 2 Roast The Peppers
Evenly roast your peppers on a grill or for about 6-10 minutes in the oven.
Step 3 Rinse the Potatoes
Rinse the potatoes very well.
Step 4- Cutting The Potatoes
Cut each potato in half. This will allow the potato to soak in more flavor.
Step 5- Preparing The Sauce
Pour the contents of a 33 ounce chamoy bottle in the blender. Squeeze a whole lime or lemon and pour the juice in the blender. Depending on how spicy you like your food, place a few roasted peppers in the blender (I placed 7-10). Blend the three ingredients together.
Step 6- Pour the sauce into a pot with the pre-cut potatoes.
Make sure to completely cover the potatoes with the sauce, seal the pot with foil and then the cover.
Step 7 Cook
Cook the potatoes in medium heat for 25-30 minutes.
Step 8- Serve and Enjoy!
Mummy Candies
Step 1-Gather Your Materials
You will need the following:
Candy Bars
Googly Eyes
Scissors
Paper Towels
Glue Gun
Glue Stick
Step 2 Cut Paper Towels
Cut long paper towel strips.
Step 3 Place Googly Eyes
Place a small dot of hot glue on the top portion of the candy bar and place two googly eyes as shown on the pictures.
Step 4 Wrap the candy Bars
Place a small drop of glue on the top edge of the candy bar and begin wrapping the paper towel strip around he candy bar. Then, place small drop of glue a the bottom edge of the candy bar and glue the edge of the paper towel strip.
Step 5- Enjoy the decorations!
Halloween Marshmallow
Step 1- Gather your materials
Youl will need the following:
Jumbo Marshmallows
Chocolate melts
Halloween Sprinkles
Microwave safe bowl
Spoon
Step 2- Melt the Chocolate
In a microwave safe bowl, melt the chocolate melts. Make sure you melt the chocolate in 15 second increments. Use a spoon to mix the chocolate each 15 seconds.
Step 3 Covering the Edge of A Marshmallow with Chocolate and Sprinkles
Dip an edge of the marshmallow into the melted chocolate. Then, dip the chocolate covered end in to the sprinkles. Set on a plate to allow the marshmallows to dry.
Step 4 Eat and Enjoy
Insect Cupcake Topping
Halloween is a time used to scare people . Using Entomophobia (better know as the fear of insects) on food is a great decoration and treat as well. This tutorial will either be loved or hated, but its always great to see everyone's facial expression when they see these insect inspired cupcake toppers.
Step 1 Gather Your Supplies
You will need the following:
Whoppers (Head)
Twix (Body)
Tootsie Roll (Antennae and legs)
Caramel (Wings)
Meat Tenderizer
Step 2 Making the Wings
Use a meat tenderizer to flatten the caramel. Then, cut a straight edge off the caramel as shown on the pictures. Cover the Twix bar using the flattened caramel candy.
Step 2 Making the Antennae and Legs
Using a Tootsie roll, roll a small piece of tootsie roll until it is thin enough to be the insects legs. Make four long strips. Place three strips on a flat surface and then place the caramel covered Twix bar on top. Then, place the fourth strip at the end of the Twix bar and finally place a Whopper as the head.
Step 3 Top Your Cupcakes
Whether you made your own cupcakes or have store bought cupcakes, simply place your cupcake topper add some sprinkles and enjoy this enjoyable and sweet insect treat.
Spider Bouquet
This very simple decoration will truly show a Halloween theme by the use of spiders and purple ribbon.
Step 1 Gather Your Materials
You will need the following:
Ribbon
Plastic Spiders
Fake Flowers
Glass Candle Holder or Vase
Glue Gun
Glue Sticks
Scissors
Step 2- Cut the stems
Cut the flower stems to a desired length for the vase or candle holder.
Step 3 Add Spiders
Randomly glue spiders on the flowers.
Step 4 Add Ribbon
Glue a Halloween colored ribbon to the vase or candle holder.
Step 5 Place on a table or counter and enjoy your decorations!
