$6 DIY Glass Two Tier Cupcake/cake Stand

IMG01449.JPG
I'm going to show you how to make an impressive looking cupcake/ cake stand for under $10. Similar stands in stores would cost at least $20 or more. I got everything needed at the dollar store for $6 plus tax. This stand could hold a batch of cupcakes on the top and bottom or a cake on the top with cupcakes on the bottom.
This is SUCH a simple craft that ANYONE can do this! It's super easy and fun and the results are well worth the 15 minutes it takes to put this together! No one will know you made this yourself for $6!

Gather Your Materials!

I purchased two glass plates, a glass pinch bowl, a tall glass ice cream dish, super glue gel and some paper doilies for $1 each at the Dollar Tree.

Assembling the Base

Start by removing any tags/stickers from your glass dishes... make sure you get off any sticker residue.
Add a small amount of the super glue gel to the bottom ring on the pinch bowl. (you'll need to use a bowl with a flat bottom.)
Carefully center the first plate over the pinch bowl and stick them together.

Assembling the Tower

Now we'll create the center tower by gluing the ice cream dish upside down on top of the base. Be sure to center it over the center, this is easier with these clear glass dishes because I could see the pinch bowl below to help center this one.

Assembling the Top Tier

Now we just need to add glue to the base (now the top) of the ice cream dish and add our top plate.
Again, be careful to center this well. Make sure your two plates line up evenly!

We're almost done!

Decorate!

I added my doilies and decided it wasn't enough for my taste, it looked too simple and traditional, which would be fine for some, but I like a more hip/trendy kind of look, so I cut out some circles from some wall paper samples I had and placed them in the center of the doilies.
Then I added some rub on decorative decals.

Sorry for the crappy cell phone photos!
