I've been making rockets on the 3D printers at Techshop, Chandler and I decided to make a wireless rocket launching platform. I know there are still some wires but I only have a couple feet of wire and got them out of the way of the rocket exhaust. I could put everything on the pad and leave it all there once I protect them from the heat. It's easier than having 50 ft of wire to tangle up and now I have a 500 ft range.

The base was made on the shop-bot CNC router and is the Techshop logo we made in the Shopbot SBU class and has a 1/8 inch steel rod in it for the launch guide. Techshop also has a really nice electronics bench for the soldering and finishing up the project.

It was pretty easy with off the shelf parts from ebay. I used a 12V DC MOMENTARY wireless key fob long range remote control relay switch RM33.  http://www.ebay.com/itm/400313999911?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2648

The 3d printer files for the rockets can be found here: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:127354

You can make pretty much anything at Techshop so check it out.
