5-Color Reverse Acrylic Sign

Multiple Colour Reverse Engraving | TroGlass Reverse | WHAAM!

This week we show you that you don't have to always settle on one color when doing laser engraving. In this projects we've used 5 colors to re-create "Whaam" a famous painting by American painter Lichtenstein!

We first flip the image horizontally, laser engrave each color separately, and spray-paint each color in between, we create this amazing image!

When cutting TroGlass Reverse it leaves the same flame-polish edge finish as regular acrylic. The front has a beautiful reflective quality. The perfect material for luxury sign-making and signage companies.

Setting Up the Artwork

Download the artwork files attached. Each colour represents each level of engraving and colouring the needs to be done. The hairline green line is the cut.

Make sure the that image in the artwork file is flipped horizontally when you go to engrave on your laser machine.

In the video we use the Trotec Speedy 360 80w laser. With 80 power and 100 speed on the engraving with a 0.2 z-offset. The z-offset is important because it brings the laser out of focus which engraves the acrylic clear instead of white - which is what you want when painting the back of it (in order to see the front).

Repeat the previous step but with the Light Purple colour in the artwork file, then spray-paint it Light Purple and let it dry for 4 hours. There is no need to do the red because that is the background colour of our TroGlass Reverse 3mm acrylic material. Finally cut the piece out and mount it to the wall using stand-offs.
