3d Printed Keyboard Earrings for Anyone
I love all things nerdy, geeky and just plain techy. In most cases I cannot find those items so I make them for me and friends. When it comes to creating 3d printing files, many 2d items can be easily constructed by extruding from a 2d SVG or drawing right in Fusion360. There are far better tutorials about using Fusion360 so I'll focus on the big picture.
Supplies
Software, Hardware and Tools
Silhouette design business (optional) - to create SVG
Fusion 360 - to create STL for printing
PruseSlicer - to slice STL file for printing two-tone
Jump ring tool - to spread jumper ring
Jewelry pliers - to add earring hardware
Jump rings
Earring hooks
Filament (get 2 for the 2-tone look)
3D printer
Create the SVG
Create your SVG using Silhouette Design Business. You can also download the one I've included below.
Downloads
Create the STL
Import the SVG into Fusion360.
Select just the keyboard keys by holding down the SHIFT and extrude to the level desired
Select the rest of the keyboard body and extrude to just less than the key's height
Save your file and export the STL
Slice the File for Printing
Import the STL file into PrusaSlicer.
Drag the vertical slider down until you can no longer see the keys. This will create a pause in the printing.
Click the plus on the vertical slider to create the second layer.
Slice the file and transfer to your printer.
Print the file and change the filament when your printer alerts you.
Grab your jump rings and earring hooks
Assemble the jewelry placing the jump ring between the printed keyboard and the earring hook.
Wear and look fabulous.
