3d Perler Bead Bonsai Tree
This project shows you how to make a Perler Bead Tree that is both beautiful and easy to create. It’s a fun craft that can be customized to match any space and works great as a handmade decoration.
Supplies
Perler beads
Hot glue gun
Clothing iron
Parchment or ironing paper
Create the Tree Pieces
Start by making the individual Perler bead pieces shown in the reference image. Follow the numbers beneath each piece to see how many of each one you need. Once all pieces are complete, place parchment paper over the beads and carefully iron them until they are fully fused.
Assemble the Tree Structure
After all pieces are fused, begin assembling the tree by connecting larger pieces to Smaller pieces to form the base. Once the base is secure, create the branches by gluing one bead at a time until the branches take shape. Tip: I used toothpicks to help hold beads in place while gluing. Next, attach the seven pieces from the previous step to the ends of the branches to support the leaves. Your tree should look similar to the example image. Remember—this project is fully customizable, so feel free to change the design or follow mine exactly.
Make the Leaves
Next, create the leaves for the tree. Follow the images provided or design your own leaves.
You should make a total of seven leaves. Use the 2 2/2s for the biggest leaf to stabilize it.
Attach the Leaves
For this step, I forgot to take pictures—so ignore the pot and focus only on the leaves.
Using the reference images, place the leaves in their correct positions on the branches.
Create the Dirt/Base
Next we will be making the pot, dirt, and grass. Create the piece shown in the image, iron it, and then glue it to the bottom of the tree as shown.
Add the Lower Base
Make the next base piece shown in the image and attach it to the bottom of the previous piece to strengthen the tree.
Build the Pot
To start the pot, make the six pot pieces shown. Stack and glue them together from largest to smallest, following the image guide.
Add the Pot Legs
Create sixteen 2×2 bead pieces for the legs. Glue them together as shown, then attach the legs to the bottom of the pot.
Check the Pot
At this stage, your pot should look similar to the example image provided.
Finish the Dirt
Make the final small dirt piece and place it inside the pot to finish the base.
Final Assembly
Put all the pieces together, and your Perler bead tree is complete! Enjoy your finished project—and feel free to add extra details like flowers or roots if you’d like.
