I figured something like 3EP which means 3 EVENINGS PROJECTS. What is that? Work and home responsibilities takes most of my day - there weren't to much time left for other activities. I had to come up with something that will give me time for crafting all sorts off stuff :). That's why 3EP came into existence - a project that I can finish in 3 evenings. I assumed that each evening will not consume more than 2 hours to finish the project.

Yesterdays evening I started a new projet - Scroll Saw Whale Puzzle. I drew the pattenr in InkScape.
It is available for download here: Whale Puzzle Pattern

There is not much to do in the first day.
You just need to print out the pattern and prepare suitable wooden base (in my case it is a base the same size that the pattern which is A4 fomat.

The base should be taped with masking tape (I run out of the yellow on and had to tape the rest of the base with blue one).

After taping the base with masking tape spread glue on the entire base and glue the pattern.

And that's it for the first day. Glue has to dry reall good before cutting.
Time needed for the first day is about 15 minutes.

Today next report on the process of making Whale Puzzle.
In this step there where will be much more work than on the first one.

First thing that you need to do is to drill an entry hole for the saw blade.
I'm using a Proxxon IB\E with 1mm drill.

Next cut the pattern on your scroll saw (I'm using Proxxon DSH).

Take off the masking tape and start sanding each element with fine sand paper.

After sanding all of the elements put them together.

Paint all the elements with white acrylic paint. When you are finished take out element so they won't stick together.

And that's it for this step. Tomorrow we are gonna paint it with colors and make some finishing touches.

Time spent on this step is 1h and 15 minutes.

Today we are finishing the whale puzzle. Last few days I was so busy I couldn't find any free time to finish them earlier.

Today we are going to have lots to do - start with painting each element to a different color - just choose colors you like.

Each element was painted 3 times - I waited 30 minutes before applying next layer of paint.

In the meantime I painted rim of the puzzle with a black marker.

Finally I glued thick felt on the bottom of the puzzle tray for easier shifting.
