This is a tutorial on how to Design a house in 3DS Max as well as animate walking through it!

Supplies

Only supplies needed are access to either 3DS max on a computer or laptop or access to Cameo on a computer or laptop

How to Start!

1. Create the floor using a plane tool from the basic object tool bar

2. Select a standard material and then apply it to the plane

3. Use the material selector or the "M" shortcut to add a marble material to it

4. Select the marble material and drag the circle to the diffuse material on standard then apply that material to the plane

5. Adjust the colors of the marble to your liking

Walls

1. To add walls use the box tool and and adjust the box to the size you want

2. To make sure your walls are all the same size use the mirror tool to create however many copies of it you need

3. Take those copies and move them to where you want by using the move tool or the rotate tool to get them to the correct place or angle

(You can also use the plane tool which is what I used for the inside walls but it is easier to use the plane tool for shading reasons, appeal and accessibility)

Kitchen

1. I used different shaped boxes to create my refrigerator, cabinets, oven and island

2. I used torus shapes for the handles on the oven, fridge and cabinets

3. The shapes that I used for the barstools are a cylinder, and a gengon which can be found under the extended primitives shapes tab

4. I used two different materials in the kitchen. I used marble which we used before on the floor and cellular which can be found in the same place and applied using the same steps as the marble material

5. You can also create bowls and utensils using the editable mesh feature which allows you to adjust where the different faces and vertexes are and allows you to morph the shape of a shape

Living Room

1. Using the editable mesh feature again we are able to manipulate the couch and chair from their original shape to the shape that they are in right now and make them look more like a couch and chair then they did previously

2. For the TV I just used two planes to create and black background and then another plane with the cellular material to give it a static look like TV's have sometimes

Doors

1. To create a door you need to have your wall which in this case is represented by the tan box and a shape that you want your doorway to be for me it was a rectangle so I used the green box

2. You adjust the green box inside of the tan one or the wall to represent where the doorway will be

3. Go to the compound objects tab and select the wall that your door is going to be on

4. Select boolean and it should show that box as a union

5. Click on add operands, then select the green box and then select subtraction

6. When you do this is should leave a blank space in the box which you can then put your door on top of and make it look like an actual doorway

Bedroom

1. For my bedroom closet I just created a bifold door and a box to create a closet look with and just adjusted those into the corner

2. For my bed I used two boxes of different shapes one as the bed and one as the pillow that I then used the copy tool on to create an exact copy of the pillow to add to the other side of the bed.

3. I took both of these objects and applied the mesh smooth to them to give them a more rounded look like a real like bed and pillow

4. For my dresser I created a box to the size I wanted and then a torus that I made longer than wide and then copied those and made them as handles.

Bathroom

1. For the toilet I used two boxes and a sphere shape to create this toilet look

2. For the shower I used a plane as a wall and just rotated it to be up and down instead of sideways

3. I used the teapot shape for the faucets because it looks cool. I also created a drain with a sphere that has the cellular material applied to it.

4. For my floor I created a plane that has the checker pattern applied to it and adjusted the colors a little to fit my aesthetic better

5. For the sink I used a box with the editable mesh feature and then just another box on top as a faucet

6. My towel rack is just a box adjusted to a rectangle shape
