3D Printed Wrench

Wrenches are always handy to have around. They can tighten things, they can loosen things, and much more. So, I decided to make a 3D printable wrench.

Requirements:

- The shape in the back of the wrench needs to be a different size than the front of the wrench so you can use it on more than one size object.

- The polygon in the back of the wrench needs to be symmetrical.

- Don't make it too big.

Supplies

The supplies you'll need include:

- 3D printer

- 3D filament

Figure Out the Sizes You Will Use

I chose to use a 13x13 octagon in the back of the wrench, and a 12x24 rounded cube shape in the front. The handle is 60 mm in length and is 20 mm in width. The entire wrench is 8 mm in height.

Now once you've figured out what sizes you will use, you can actually design the wrench. I started by adding a box and making it into a rectangle shape. I then added two cylinders (one on each side of the rectangle) to make the handle a little more comfortable, but they are not necessary.

Finish Your Design

Add a box to each side of the wrench, but increase the radius so the corners round. The box in the front is 26x24 and the box in the back is 20x20. Add a polygon of your choice to the box in the back (smaller box), but make it a hole. Then add another box and increase the radius so the corners round to the box in the front (bigger box), and make it a hole. With the hole in the bigger box, you want to make it so there is a complete opening like shown in the picture above. In the smaller box, the hole can go entirely inside the box.

Print Your Design!

Now you can print your design to the nearest 3D printer and enjoy the final result!!
