Hi, I am a student at the Hakfar Hayarok High SchooI. I chose to make this project because every time I need a pen or pencil in my home there is no way to find it, so I make this trash can design for gathering all the pens and the pencils in my home so I could use them.

Before designing the trash can in Fusion 360, I need to take inspiration from a real trash can.

I searched trash cans online and I looked at the pictures to see if there are any trash cans that would not be hard  to make but also not ugly.

I found out that all the good pictures of  trash cans have the cover closed, so I have come to a decision to try and use my imagination to design an open cover trash can.

Design the Trash Can Body

Steps for designing the trash can body:

  1. create a sketch of 50 mm by 50 mm.
  2. Use the extrude feature on the sketch and add 95 mm height.
  3. create a sketch of 48 mm by 48 mm on top of the rectangle.
  4. Use the extrude feature on the sketch and subtract 90 mm.

Steps for designing the trash can wheels:

  1. Create a sketch that contains 3 circles on one of the trash can body. The first one is a 30 mm radius circle (*Make sure the sketch is sticking out from the rectangle*). The second is a 20 mm radius circle and the third is a 6 mm radius circle.
  2. On the same sketch of the circles you need to create a rectangle whose measure is 1 mm by 10.5 mm.
  3. Use the Circular Pattern feature and select the rectangle sketch as Object and select the circle center as Center Point. Then change the Quantity to 8.
  4. Use the extrude feature on the sketch to add 5 mm height to the 30 mm radius circle, the 6 mm radius circle and the 8 rectangle.
  5. Use the extrude feature on the sketch and select all 8 trapezoids then add 2 mm height to them.
  6. Use the Midplane feature and select the wheel side of the trash can and the parallel side to it.
  7. Use the Mirror feature and select the trash can body with the wheel as object and the midplane as Mirror Plane.
  8. Use the extrude feature and subtract 1 mm from the edge of the wheel. Use it again for the other wheel.

  3. Create a sketch of 4 mm by 60 mm on the top of the trash can body but on the parallel side of the wheels.
  4. Use the extrude to add 1 mm to the trash can body.
  5. Use the Fillet feature to round 2.5 mm the trash can body .
  6. Use the Fillet feature to round 10 mm the side of the trash can .
  7. Create a sketch on the wheels side, the sketch needs to include 2 rectangles(15 mm by 7.5 mm) that each one of them is 2.5 mm from the edge of the trash can side.
  8. Use the extrude feature on the 2 rectangles sketch and add 10 mm to their height.
  9. Use the Fillet feature to round 13 mm from the 2 rectangles .
  10. Create a sketch of 4 mm by 60 mm rectangle on the top of the trash can body but on the side of the wheels.
  11. Use the extrude feature on the rectangle sketch and add 55 mm to the height.
  12. Create a sketch of 2 mm by 60 mm rectangle on the top of the rectangle we made in step 12, make sure that the sketch is 1 mm away from each side.
  13. Use the extrude feature and subtract 0.9 mm from the rectangle and then use the Fillet feature to round 2.5 mm from the trash can cover.
  14. Use the Chamfer feature on all of the edges(like in picture 14) and make it 4 mm.

Now after completing all the steps, all that is left is to print the trash can and put inside of it pens and pencils.
